Windrush Play 12 November 2022

The South Street Arts Centre in Reading attracted a sell-out crowd on Saturday 12 November 2022 to see the Windrush Play organised by the Reading Windrush Alliance.  The Play was written by Olayinka Sobitan-Solomon, Jodiann Al-Khemi Johnson and Toyah Demi Panton, three emerging Playwrights from South London who also starred in the production. 

It was directed by Steve Macauley.  The play was a story within a story of the Windrush generation in spoken word. It relates to a family living in London dealing with dysfunction and racism.  At the end of the performance there was a very lengthy standing ovation with many in the audience demanding “MORE, MORE”.
